Sylvia Durocher
I have been taking pictures since my teens. I have owned a camera since I was 14 years old. I started with an Instamatic film camera, embraced digital in 2006 and I now have a bridge point & shoot as my everyday camera. I grew up in rural Alberta. I used a camera to capture moments in my life, my family and special events. In 2010 being encouraged by a friend and I started taking photography more seriously. I upgraded my camera and did a lot of macro photography. Following a major life change I joined a macro group on Flickr in May 2016 and I have submitted a shot every week since. A camera is my constant companion. I don’t want to miss an opportunity for a great shot. My favourite approach is still macro but I am branching out into various types. To grow as a photographer, I regularly participate in weekly on-line challenges. I walk the river valley most days, visit wetlands in the area, and plan a few road trips throughout the year. I entered photographs into Allied Arts Council shows since 2018 and joined as a member in 2019.

Artist Statement
With more exposure to other photographers I have started to see my world in a different way.
I am capturing more artistic images recently.
I have an image in mind, I do research on how, then practice the process.
