ARTIST BIO | Samantha Harrison

Samantha Harrison (she\her) is an emerging oil painter and graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, with a BFA. She recently moved to the city of Edmonton, AB, previously living many years in Vancouver, BC. She now lives and works in Treaty 6 Territory, within the Métis homelands and Métis Nation of Alberta Region 4 alongside her husband and child. Her paintings usually feature the human figure, always painted representationally, and usually approaching or attempting the Hyperreal. Her work uses realism and excessive attention to detail to contemplate the ability of historical painting techniques to lend power to, and elevate, the concepts represented. Her most recent solo exhibits include Taken Up Into The Sky with the Leduc Arts Foundry, in Leduc, AB, and GODS + ALIENS with the Metro Gallery In Edmonton, AB. Some of her past exhibition history includes solo shows with PoMo Arts Centre, and Queens Park Gallery, as well as juried group exhibitions with Fort Gallery and the Seymour Art Gallery, all in the Greater Vancouver area of B.C. She often exhibits and works alongside her husband, Jeongmin Ahn, a fellow oil painter, working collaboratively to identify and make use of commonality within their respective bodies of work.

ARTIST BIO | Jeongmin Ahn

Jeongmin Ahn (he/him) is an emerging Korean oil painter and hyperrealist artist. He graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2020 with a BFA, and was trained in Korea by the hyperrealist painter Hae-Kwang Jeong. He moved from Vancouver B.C. to Edmonton, A.B. in 2024, and is now living in Treaty 6 Territory within the Métis homelands and Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 4. During his childhood and young adulthood he lived in both Bangladesh and South Korea, and his witnessing of ecological strain in both countries has greatly influenced the themes of his work, which often focus on the effects of human beings on the ecosystem. His most recent solo exhibit was Receptaculum, with the Alberta Society of Artists, in Calgary, AB, and his past exhibitions in British Columbia include Arts2024 with the Surrey Art Gallery in 2024, This Gift, with the Port Coquitlam arts Council in 2023, Trash, with the Queen’s Park Gallery, and ArtRich 2021 with the Richmond Art Gallery, among others. He was the recipient of an Edmonton Arts Council grant in both 2025 and 2026. He works primarily in oils, usually painting still lives. Much of his work pursues the idea of perfectionism and explores the ability of excessive detail in lending power to, and redefining the value of, the subjects he chooses to paint. He often exhibits and works alongside his wife, Samantha Harrison, a fellow oil painter, and they work as team when exhibiting together, always seeking to identify paintings that explore complimentary themes.
