Art has been a passion of mine since childhood. During the early years, my Mom was my mentor, helping me develop an appreciation for art, and encouraging me to do my best. My passion reached a new level in junior high school, when my art teacher led me to explore different mediums. He challenged me. My creativity grew. Throughout my life, I’ve enjoyed doing arts and crafts, and especially paintings. A wise gentleman said to me, “Crystal, to excel at something, you must narrow your focus.” I did, and decided to concentrate on oil painting. As a result, I took a series of lessons in oil painting to advance my skills. I loved the challenge of creating one-of-a-kind originals.
Since then, I’ve delved even deeper into oil painting, while dabbling with other mediums as well. Some of my favourites are acrylic, inks, photography, glass work, wood working, and I truly enjoy the variety of mixed media. Art, for me, has become an integral part of my life. I let my work portray my personality, while continuing to learn from my peers and mentors. I am currently sitting as Membership Chairperson on the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove.
It’s my goal to help bring a love and passion for art into the community through volunteering and showing art. If we all share our passion for art, we’ll reach people’s hearts.
“There’s beauty all around us, but we need to open our senses to enjoy it. God has created a masterpiece – I merely hope to capture some of his compositions.” --Crystal Fisher.
