Course description:

In each course I present concepts based on visual art theory. I implement exercises, do demonstrations on approaches to application of paint, use of tools, and materials. When there is time slides of contemporary and classic masters, local, national and international artist work is presented to aid in a deeper understanding of the content covered.

Participants have the option of implementing what is being presented with reference material I provide and/or using reference they bring in themselves. Alternatively if students prefer to use reference not directly related to concepts that’s fine too. All paintings have theory to consider! Everything I offer is helpful in a visual art practice no matter the skill level or reference being used. There will be opportunity for full class time work sessions.

Know that I am not a step by step instructor and encourage critical thinking in regards to implementation of the theory I present. If you are new to painting, wanting to develop stronger skills moving beyond the basics, looking for feedback on existing works in progress, looking to troubleshoot problematic areas in paintings, learn new approaches to painting, gain a deeper understanding of visual language I am certain you will enjoy the classes I offer.
