Dianna Hanna
Dianna has traveled throughout Canada and has lived in five provinces and two territories. Residing in exciting places has given her the opportunity to be with remarkable people and experience Canada’s wonderland. Dianna has enjoyed the success of a professional career and the satisfaction of owning her own business. She is an Honours graduate of Interior Design and CDA II. She holds certificates in Darkroom Photography and Calligraphy. Dianna has also studied Silversmith and currently studying for her Fine Art Diploma. Dianna has a certificate in Colour Theory. She believes and enjoys lifelong learning.
In 1997, Dianna retired from the business world. She took this opportunity to begin a new journey into the art world. Dianna’s passions are watercolour and photography with other mediums adding to her artistic excitement including acrylic, batik, and encaustic.
Dianna enjoys the serenity of country living, Dianna can step outside and within moments be absorbing the colours of the early morning sunrise, the dew drops on the grass, the whisper of an autumn breeze and the Rockies peeking to the west. She captures many special treasured moments with her camera.
Dianna is primarily self-taught. She has participated in several art workshops from professional art instructors. Each artist has inspired and encouraged her advancement. Dianna continues to participate in as many workshops as possible. Interacting with other artists encourages the “creative flow”.
Dianna instructs Watercolour, Acrylic, Batik and Encaustic in organised workshops throughout Alberta. Sharing mediums is exciting and rewarding. We learn and create from each other.
Dianna is very active in the arts community. She has been featured in The Western Review of Drayton Valley and Spruce Grove/Stony Plain Reporter. She has participated in gallery exhibitions in Drayton Valley, Spruce Grove, Edmonton, Sangudo, Evansburg, Calgary, Donalda and Wildwood. She is a member of Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove, Alberta Community Art Clubs Association, CARFAC, VAAA, Associate of Society of Western Canadian Artists, and Supporting of the Alberta Society of Artists, St Albert Painter’s Guild and Drayton Valley Fine Art Society. She has been highly involved and supportive of these art groups for several years. Being involved has encouraged new friendships, meeting fellow artists and finding new discoveries.
Dianna instructed the North Central Teacher Association in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2011. Dianna also judged the Senior Summer Art Games in 2007, 2009 and 2011 for Fine Arts and photography.
Dianna is a published artist with Artists Press Corporation of Alberta, released Dec. 2002/2003. She is also published with Watercolour Gazette for Rice Paper techniques, 2003, and a release with the Western Review in December 2005. She also has tip pages in 2006 and 2007 in the Watercolour Gazette.
Dianna is the profiled artist in the Watercolour Gazette for May/June 2007 and SWCA Feature Artist Sept/2007 and April 2011. Dianna was profiled in the Spruce Grove Examiner in 2008 and the Western Review in 2008 and 2009.
