ADULT WORKSHOPS
Prairie Skies – Acrylic Beginner /Intermediate
Learn how to capture the vast and dynamic skies of the prairies, from clear skies to soft floating clouds, to the approaching storm. Through discussion, exercises, demonstrations and hands on painting you will learn about colour mixing, brush strokes and techniques. Students may use the design and photo references supplied or bring their own prairie sky reference. Workshop runs 6 hours so please bring a bag lunch.

Introduction to Watercolour Pencils
Now is the time to get out that set of watercolour pencils that you’ve been itching to try! In this 6 hour workshop we will experiment with line, texture and washes to create a small painting. Photo reference will be provided by the Instructor

Comic Book Workshop (Age 13-up)
Do you like to write, draw and design comic books? Gord will try to cram everything and anything that he can into this one day Comic Book Work Shop. This workshop is the perfect start for all comic book artists and writers. Gord will guide you through the creative process and teach you the techniques used to make professional comic books. You will learn drawing basics, character design, penciling, inking/coloring, graphic art, writing, thinking in panels, lay out and much more. Genres are encouraged. Pen and Ink Unplugged Beginner/Intermediate
Learn drawing techniques in Pen and ink. See how to get the most out of a sketchbook to collect imagery wherever you are. The pen and ink sketchbook is ideal for collecting drawings, ideas, and thoughts to create studies for major work. The materials are inexpensive, versatile, and light, so you can sketch in the studio or on holiday. Learn techniques which give you the freedom to ‘steal time’ and draw for yourself anywhere “anytime”.

Introduction to Soapstone Carving (ages 14 – up)
Learn to create a soapstone sculpture with simple tools. Learn the basic techniques using rasps and files and leave at the end of the day with a finished polished carving. Choices of carvings may include: whale, loon, duck, ptarmigan, seal, walrus and dolphin. For this class, students will pick on the day of the class.

Manga with Mandi (Age 10 to 16)
American cartooning is one thing, but if you’re inspired by the large eyed, tipped nosed, big haired art style that is Anime and Manga from Japan; this is the class for you! Mandi has been an avid anime artist since 2004 and is willing to teach you the skills required to become a manga-ka (manga artist) too, someday! During this workshop you will acquire skills in pencil, lineart, and coloring of various mediums. Make friends and have fun with a little bit of culture and a lot of art

This fun &fast-paced workshop will focus on learning the basic skills, concepts, and tricks needed to harness the massive power of digital image making. From comic books, to video game and movie concept art, digital image making is an extremely powerful and versatile medium. You will learn several ways to start a project, and the basic tools needed to complete it. Supply list at the gallery.

Digital Drawing & Painting (Inter/Advanced )
(Ages 14 – up)
This class will cover the same topics and skills as the Intro / Beginner class, but will dive deeper. Having already acquired some basic skills, you can now take things further and develop your abilities even more. There will likely be even more advanced tricks and tips that weren’t covered in the Intro class. This class will focus more on creating a finished piece, while learning even more as you go.
